Little British Car

The neighbor's British car just sits
In winter snow and summer dust
The little roadster needs some work
But gathers leaves and gathers rust.

It burns my eyes to see the car
No longer hugging road or track
A tarp of blue across the hood
Within, the dash is crackle black.

While scanning eight-sided emblems
I note the letters "M" and "G"
They stand for Morris Garages
A marque, that since, has ceased to be.

Were I to buy the little car
I'd fix it up and fix it well
I'd keep the color racing green
Then drive from Boston to Carmel.
